We
have developed a partnership with The Counseling Center, Inc., whereby
they place counselors in our program as well as provide clinical direction.
The curriculum consists of group counseling on a daily basis targeting
aggression, social skills, moral development, and healthy relationships. This
includes, but is not limited to, basic sex education, positive peer interaction,
family functioning, and drug and alcohol education. The youth also receive
individual
counseling where they become responsible for the issues addressed through
active participation in the setting of their treatment goals and the
achievement of these goals.
How do peers help peers at the Children's Center of Ohio?
With the residential setting, these licensed social workers have immediate access to the youth as problems arise and utilize a hands-on approach to "resocializing" youth. This ideal setting provides youth with the opportunity to learn social expectations as a student, peer, family member, and citizen and internalize these values, skills, and attitudes.
